The beginnings of Rusted Root

True to my word, last night I tried to cast on for Rusted Root twice, but was unsatisfied with how the stitches were sitting on the needles. I’m using my Knitpicks wood interchangeable needles for the first time, but I don’t blame the needles for my problems casting on; I’m knitting with the recommended Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece think that I was inadvertently going against the twist of the yarn during the long tail cast-on.

My previous experience with Zephyr Style is Green Gable, a pattern I would happily knit again. Green Gable was a quick and easy knit with a few modifications, and I expect this to be the same. For Rusted Root, I plan on lengthening the body and sleeves and to add some additional bust and waist shaping. I might get rid of the sleeve cap, too; it’s awfully cute on the model, but probably won’t be on me.

The color? Orange, of course.
