Frowsery

A resting spot for what would otherwise be ephemeral miscellany.

Potential sizing issues.

I knit my Rusted Root onto 2 circular needles today in order to try it on for the first time. I was a little worried that the neckline is going to be too big and was having a hard time finding the center of the shoulder in order to get an accurate measurement of how much longer the arm hole shaping needed to be. I’m not willing to knit further without resolving those issues, so I decided to pick up and knit the neck ribbing sooner rather than later.

Being a lazy smart knitter, I would have started with the k2, p1 rib had I not dropped the neckline. Of course, I did drop the neck, and in doing so added about 12″ to the neck circumference. The added size and irregular shape really requires an edging to keep its shape.

The pattern calls for just 3 rows of ribbing, though I’m there now and it doesn’t seem like quite enough. As soon as I knit to “good enough” I’ll knit onto 2 circular needles and try it on again. If I don’t like it, I’m going to rip it out and swear like a sailor.

  1. You are a knitter after my own heart. Adjust, adjust, adjust, RIP, think, knit, adjust, RIP a little more…but we know what we want and we’re trying our best to get it! My Josephine top is giving me fits. I hope to prevail. Or I’ll be swearing like a sailor, too. :-p
